Otherside

Otherside is a gamified, interoperable metaverse in the making. The principles of the game are inspired by massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) and web3-enabled virtual worlds. Consider it a metaRPG in which the players own the environment, your NFTs can become playable characters, and thousands of people can play in real time. You can bring your NFTs into the Otherside metaverse, including Cryptopunks, Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Cool Cats, World of Women, CrypToads, and more.

YugaLabs is the creator of the sought-after Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC) collection, which has remained one of the most valued NFTs long after its minting in April 2021. This year, the company attempted to unveil another blockbuster offering, this time involving a completely new metaverse that would provide holders with new chances. The team hopes to rethink the concept of the metaverse through Otherside by making it dynamic, full of narrative, and holding citizens accountable for their activities.

What Makes Otherside a One-of-a-Kind Metaverse RPG?

Even in the early phases of development, Yuga Labs promises that users will play an active role in shaping Otherside. They can participate in prototype builds, tests, and demos that will have an impact on the final game design. The game will eventually evolve naturally as a result of player participation. The team behind the Otherside Metaverse project also promises that over 10,000 individuals will be able to play together at the same time and engage with one another in a genuine voice conversation. In this regard, NFT collectors in this open-world game can own land, gather resources, and discover antique items and rare characters. Users can also buy, sell, and trade digital assets, according to the website. Furthermore, new games and characters can be created, and users can personalize digital land.

What exactly are Otherdeeds and Kodas?
Otherdeeds are virtual land deeds that allow you to claim a parcel of land in the metaverse of Otherside. You effectively own your own patch of Otherside with an Otherdeed, as there are 200,000 land parcels of dynamic NFT land with a mix of environment, sediments, and riches. Some Otherdeeds are resource-rich, while others are home to great artifacts.

How will Otherside be monetised?

Otherside’s in-game cryptocurrency will be ApeCoin.
Users purchase special land assets called Otherdeeds, which are paid for in ApeCoin, to purchase real estate and get entry to the Otherside. There will be a total quantity of 1 billion ApeCoin, with fresh ApeCoin tokens unlocked each month for the first 48 months after the debut. ApeCoin is now available on major exchanges including Coinbase, Gemini, and Binance. ApeCoin will be used for transactions on the Otherside and throughout the BAYC ecosystem, in addition to being the exclusive currency for purchasing Otherdeeds.

The Technology:

Otherside combines mechanics from massively multiplayer online role-playing games (MMORPGs) and virtual worlds powered by Web3. Yuga Labs, in partnership with Improbable, the metaverse technology company, seeks to develop a MetaRPG universe in which the players own the planet, any NFT can become a playable character, and thousands of people can play at the same time. Improbable will build Otherside on the M2 network, enabling an open metaverse for the community to create and own unique characters and experiences. 10,000+ people will be able to engage simultaneously in a single location, connect with natural voice chat (even in crowds of thousands), experience rich, immersive gaming supported by AI and physics, and move between metaverses thanks to the strength of Improbable M2 technology. Other participants will knock down obstacles in terms of scale, bandwidth, and rendering as they develop new sorts of games and social opportunities.

You can also make your own things if you enjoy doing so. Yuga Labs will provide an SDK that will enable designers to create items for the Otherside and sell them in the game’s marketplace, including not only characters, but also costumes, tools, structures, and even games.
